Live: Avon Tyres British GT Championship Silverstone Practice 2

This live blog will be updated during the second free practice session for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Silverstone.

12:52United Autosports’ McLaren is second fastest thatnks to Matt Bell, with John Gaw’s Aston Martin third. #11 Porsche and Team WFR Ginetta round out the top five

12:51C heckered flag – Joe Osborne’s earliest of early times is enough to remain fastest for the entire session.

12:51Team WFR top the GT4 times, looking good to wrap up the championship tomorrow.

12:49The UA McLaren now second fastest, still more than sixth tenth slower than the Trackspeed Porsche which is STILL fastest after that very early lap

12:48The Ginetta G50 of #TeamTCF blogger Zoe Wenham and Dom Evans currently sits in fifth place 3.6 seconds ahead of the Complete Racing Aston Martin GT4

12:46Team WFR’s Ginetta G50 tops the GT4 times with the APO Sport G50 1.135 seconds behind. The Mazda MX5 GT4 is currently in third.

12:45And the #10 Motorbase and #33 Trackspeed Porsches join the track limits slap-on-the-wrist list

12:44The United Autosports McLaren MP4-12C up to fourth overall now…

12:42And another personal best in the final sector puts the #17 Aston Martin second fastest, still seven tenths slower than the lead Porsche

12:41Followed up with a personal best in sector two….

12:40John Gaw in the Cyber Racing Aston Martin sets the best time through sector one of anyone…..

12:39The #11 car – now Daniele Perfetti – has picked up its second track limits warning. How long before the penalties start?

12:37Still the fastest car this session, despite only completing 4 laps the #32 Porsche is back out after their driveshaft problems

12:30After struggling in the first session with a power steering problem the Scuderia Vittoria Ferrari of Aaron Scott and John Dhillon have a steering rack problem.

12:28MTECH now fifth fastest after leading the opening session. Times have yet to come down to anywhere near the first session markers though.

12:23With Riki Christodoulou in the car the Team WFR car goes third fastest (2:05.589)

12:22We get our first track limits warning for the GT boys of the weekend, Michael Caine pinged in the #11 Motorbase car

12:20Half way through the session. The #32 Porsche is still quickest over the #11 car, Beechdean’s Aston 3rd, Team WFR 4th and Ecurie Ecosse’s BMW 5th

12:18Second in the first session the Team WFR Ginetta G55 goes to fourth fastest (2:05.958)

12:14Reports are that it was broken driveshaft on the Porsche and damaged left-rear wheel for the LNT Ginetta of Lawrence Tomlinson

12:12Michael Caine puts Motorbase’s #11 Porsche second fastest, still nearly eight tenths to make up to the Tandy/Osborne #32 though

12:11The Team LNT Ginetta G55 GT3 has come into the pit lane and stopped, looks like a problem.

12:04And we’re back under way, 46 minutes left in the session now

12:02Apparently it’s the Joe Osborne Porsche – quickest so far – that stopped at Farm to bring out the red flag

11:59Just nine minutes in, and we have our first red flag of the session.

11:56Once again it’s the Trackspeed Porsches with the early pace in session, the #32 car fastest after the first flying laps.

11:51Time for FP2 for the British GT guys. MTECH led the first session with strong showings from the Geddies and the Ginettas behind.
