Max Coates will make his return to the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup this weekend at Brands Hatch.
Coates will be competing in the final rounds of the season in theplayer.co.uk-backed G55 run by Century Motorsport, a car previously raced by Josh Wakefield, Nathan Freke and Freddie Hetherington through the season.
Former Ginetta Junior racer Coates started the season racing in the series’ G50 class with Redbrick Racing, taking six podiums, including four wins, in the opening nine races. After missing the Oulton Park meeting, Coates returned with a win at his home meeting at Croft in June, his last appearance of the season.
“I’m so excited, not racing since June has been so frustrating,” said Coates. “I have had the chance to see what we’re like from the other side of the fence and also did the commentary with Richard John Neil at Knockhill. I have had some great experiences whilst I have been out of the seat but the challenge of stepping up to the G55 against the likes of Tom Sharp, Tom Ingram and Carl Breeze will make this weekend an interesting one.
“Brands Hatch is a track I really enjoy so I’m looking forward to some good results. A podium would be nice but a win is my focus. I won’t know if that’s possible until Friday testing but if I can perform like l have done in the RedBrick Racing G50 then I believe I have a good chance.
