Davies Takes Stunning Pole On G55 Debut

1 Mins read

Mark Davies secured a sensational pole position on his debut in the G55 class of the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup, the newly-crowned G50 champion heading the grid for Round 25 at Brands Hatch.

In a busy session, it looked like KX Akademy member Tom Ingram was going to take pole in his JHR Developments-prepared G55, but a last gasp lap of 1:32.338s gave Davies pole for Richardson Racing.

Ingram, who still has faint hopes of taking a third consecutive Ginetta title, took second ahead of championship leader Tom Sharp, the front three split by just 0.080s.

Jake Hill took fourth ahead of the third championship contender Carl Breeze, with Breeze’s Total Control Racing team-mate Jamie Orton joining him on row three. Hunter Abbott and Fergus Walkinshaw form row four, while Max Coates went a strong ninth on his debut in a G55.

Andrew Richardson ended up a frustrated tenth, having been in the mix for pole at one stage, with Colin White and Marcus Hoggarth completing the G55 runners in eleventh and fourteenth respectively.

In the G50 class, Declan Jones benefited from the absence of champion Davies to take the class pole in twelfth overall, ending up 0.443s ahead of closest rival Harry Cockill. Fifteenth overall and third in class was Rob Gaffney, ahead of Reece Somerfield, series returnee Connaire Finn and Dan Norris-Jones.
