Porsche works driver Marco Holzer will join Bryce Miller in driving the Paul Miller Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the 2013 American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
Holzer narrowly missed out on the International GT Open title despite taking five wins and another four podiums during the season. The 24-year-old was also a regular for Flying Lizard Motorsports in the ALMS as a regular co-driver to Seth Neiman in the team’s #44 car.
“I’ve been watching Marco since he and Bryce drove together in the 2009 season, once at Daytona and once at the Spa 24 hours, where they finished second,” said team owner Paul Miller. “He’s progressed nicely through the years and did a great job in the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche last year in the ALMS. It will be valuable to have his track knowledge along with Bryce’s. I expect he and Bryce will be a strong team, fast and reliable.”
“I am excited to join Paul Miller Racing for the 2013 American Le Mans Series GT championship,” Holzer said. “Their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was improving through the season last year, and the addition of Michelin tires should help us be even more competitive. Bryce is really familiar with most of the circuits, and I have a lot of experience setting up the RSR with Michelin tires, so we should make a good team.”
Paul Miller Racing have previously run on Dunlop tyres, but have been forced to switch following Dunlop’s exit from the ALMS.
For his new teammate Miller 2013 will be his third season with Paul Miller Racing in the GT class of the ALMS, finishing ninth in the 2012 standings after recording three podiums, including a second at Mid-Ohio, over the course of the season.
The new ALMS season begins at the 61st 12 Hours of Sebring on March 16, though the first official running of the new season will be the series’ winter test at Sebring International Raceway in early February.
