Dario Franchitti maintained the lead of the 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona throughout the twelfth hour for the #02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team.
While Franchitti continued to lead there was a shuffled behind in the Daytona Prototype standings after an hour of green flag running. Having starting the hour in fourth Ryan Hunter–Reay was running second at the half way point in the Velocity WorldWide Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette, with Starworks Motorsports’ #2 and the pair of Action Express Corvette DP rounding out the top five.
The best battles of the hour were in the GT class, Nicolas Armindo in the Magnus Racing Porsche trying to chase down Alessandro Pier Guidi for the class lead. After several laps of following the Ferrari, unable to make an impression due to his rival’s fastest car Armindo looked to make a pass down the inside under braking for the bus stop chicane. However a slower GT car found its way between the two class leaders, Pier Guidi able to pull away to safety while Armindo had to try and regain the ground, running wide at turn one the following lap, losing more time to the class leader.
Armindo would pit before the end of the hour, the #44 entry falling out of the class top five, replaced by the Alex Job Racing Audi R8 in second place in class, fending off the MOMO/NGT Motorsport Porsche for much of the hour in another battle at the head of the class.
Napleton Racing continue to lead the GX class.
