G50 Champ Davies Joins TCR For Supercup Title Bid

1 Mins read

Reigning ‘G50 Class’ champion Mark Davies has signed a deal with front-running outfit Total Control Racing to mount  challenge for the outright Ginetta GT Supercup title in 2013.

Triple Ginetta title winner Davies took a stunning 14 wins in 23 races in the G50 class last season with Richardson Racing, before making a stunning G55 debut in the season finale at Brands Hatch, winning two of the three races.

The Cardowan Creameries driver will be hoping for more of the same this season and defend the Supercup title for TCR, who won it with Carl Breeze last season.

“Mark’s a fantastic driver to have in the team, we’re delighted he’s joined us”, said Lee Brookes, TCR team principal, “He’s won the Ginetta Challenge in the G20 car and the G40 car, last year he won in the G50 so we want to try and win the G55 with him. He’s a quality driver, very quick as he proved at the end of last season with his first outing in a G55. He’ll definitely be fighting for the title.”

“Ever since back in the days when I raced in [Renault] Clios, TCR was always one of the top teams and it’s always been my ambition to drive for them”, said Davies, “I’ve always been impressed by the way the team operates, it’s one of the best organised in the paddock and TCR’s cars are always fast without any shadow of a doubt.

“We had a great year last year, but I had to take this opportunity which has been made possible by my fantastic sponsor Cardowan Creameries. I want to go out and win the title and win as many races as I can but, like Carl [Breeze] showed last year, you have to be consistent. I’m really looking forward to the new season, I can’t wait to get out in the car and start working with all the guys at TCR.”
