Ginetta GT Supercup rivals Tom Sharp and Colin White will join forces for this season sharing a Ginetta G55 GT3 in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

The pairing will compete under the IDL Racing with CWS banner, driving the revised GT3 version for Ginetta’s G55 model.

Both men have a history of racing Ginettas, having both moved into the G55 class of the GT Supercup after starting in the Ginetta G50 Cup. Sharp in particular has emerged as one of the top drivers in the series, dominating the opening rounds in both 2011 and 2012 but falling short of the title on both occasions.

Both have also made brief visits to the British GT paddock before, Sharp entering three rounds of the 2011 championship, including an outing in the Oulton Park opener alongside 2013 teammate White.

White, a former star of the ASCAR stock car series based at Rockingham, also made a one-off appearance in the 2012 campaign, driving with Jake Rattenbury in a Ginetta G55 Cup at the Nurburgring.

Team principal David Sharp said; “both Tom and Colin have shown what they are capable of over the last few years competing in Ginetta’s and together in a not to dissimilar car they should be a very strong pair.”

“Racing last season in the British GT at the Nurburgring and winning our class in the G55 cup car gave me the desire for the outright GT3 win,” said White. “The obvious progression is to a Ginetta GT3 car with the latest upgrades. Having a very competitive team mate with similar aspirations makes IDL and CWS a winning combination.”

The team will join the two Ginetta G55 GT3 planned by the Ginetta works team, the first car already confirmed for Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and Richard Sykes,

“It’s great to see Tom and Colin progressing up the Ginetta racing ladder into the British GT with one of our cars,” said Tomlinson who, with Mike Simpson scored the G55 GT3’s best result of the 2012 British GT season, a fourth in the three hour race at Silverstone. “They have both enjoyed success in the Ginetta championships and have been great ambassadors for Ginetta with 12 years of experience between them. I’m sure they will come out challenging from the start and I look forward to racing against them.”
