Hot Rod World Champion Joins Supercup Ranks

Four-Time National Hot Rod World Champion Carl Boardley will compete in the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup this season.

After competing behind the wheel of a Ginetta G55 in the Dutch Supercar Challenge last year, Boardley has decided to remain with the marque and move into the BTCC-supporting series.

The 37 year old holds the record for achieving four consecutive National Hot Rod World Championship titles between 2006 and 2009. He moved into circuit racing in 2010, competing in the Pickup Truck Racing Championship.

Boardley enjoyed a successful test in a Ginetta G55 at Donington Park back in November. For this season, he will retain the #41 he has become infamous for throughout his racing career and will run with CBM Motorsport, the team who has ran him throughout his career.

“The test at Donington Park at the end of last year was an eye opener of how competitive the Ginetta G55’s were,” said Boardley. “I have always been a fair but hard racer and I will be working hard to be at the sharp end as soon as possible.

“I’m not big headed and know I have a lot to learn regarding the car and the fact I’ll have new competitors around me so will need to understand their boundaries as much as they will with me, but we are all committed to getting top results as that’s my way of racing.”
