British team Ram Racing had their two car entry into the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) confirmed today, with the announcement of the full entry list of the revamped series.
The new team’s pair of Ferrari 458 Italia are part of a ten strong GTE class that includes a total of six Ferrari, including a pair from AF Corse and a single car entry from Ram’s fellow British team JMW Motorsport.
“We think that’s a cracking list and we can’t wait to see how we measure up at the official test in March,” said team principal Dan Shufflebottom. “We are obviously the new boys compared to our competitors, and we’re going to be up against some fierce opposition from the likes of AF Corse, IMSA Performance Matmut and Larbre Competition.”
The team has previously confirmed that Johnny Mowlem and Matt Griffin will pair up in driving the #52 car, with American Gunnar Jeannette combining with an as yet unnamed co-driver in the #53 entry.
“We wouldn’t be doing this unless we felt we had a good shot at success, and we are confident we’ve gathered together all the elements needed to achieve that,” said Shufflebottom. “We have a reasonable testing programme lined up prior to the official ELMS test at Paul Ricard on 26/27th; there are only five weeks now until our first race at Silverstone so it’s flat out from here on.”
The ELMS season begins at Silverstone on April 13, the series beginning a new season supporting the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the British GP venue.
