Andrew Jordan set the pace at the official British Touring Car Championship pre-season test at Donington Park.
The 2012 Independent’s Champion is targeting outright glory this year and topping the media day session went some way to showing the NGTC Honda Civic will be in the hunt for victory at the Brands Hatch opener next weekend.
Jordan set the benchmark 1m10.358s on the new Dunlop soft tyre compound, with little more than a tenth between him, second-placed Jason Plato‘s MG and defending champion Gordon Shedden‘s Honda in third.
Adam Morgan‘s Ciceley Racing-run Toyota Avensis was fourth ahead of Dave Newsham in Speedworks Motorsport‘s sister car.
Matt Neal was sixth in the second Honda Yuasa Racing Civic while Sam Tordoff, Plato’s new-for-2013 teammate, was seventh in the second MG. Aron Smith was first of the Motorbase cars ahead of Frank Wrathall – who made it three Toyotas in the top ten – while returning 2009 champion Colin Turkington was 10th in West Surrey Racing‘s new BMW 215i.
The top S2000 runner was Liam Griffin in 18th, but the older-spec cars occupied five of the bottom six places.
