Wayne Taylor Racing will start the inaugural Rolex Series race at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) from the front row of the grid.
Jordan Taylor, son of team owner Wayne, managed to set the second quickest lap in his first career qualifying attempt for Wayne Taylor Racing with a time of 2:00.239 seconds.
“It’s not terrible, I’d say, for my first qualifying effort in the Velocity Worldwide Corvette,” said Taylor “I’m definitely disappointed. I don’t think I ever put it all together on that lap. It was a bit frustrating when it came to trying to get a gap and people slowing down and going fast and catching guys who are 12 seconds off the past. But a front-row start for Team Chevy, I guess you can’t complain too much.”
“It’s a long race.” he continued. “There were definitely a couple of mistakes on my lap, but it’ll be an interesting race, especially with all the different aero packages going on out there – high downforce, low downforce, everything in-between at this track and that’ll really dictate the race. Qualifying is qualifying but you only score points for what you do in the race.”
Taylor will be joined by Italian veteran Max Angelelli in the first sprint race of the 2013 Grand-Am season.
