Hunt To Make Isle Of Man TT Debut In 2013

1 Mins read

Gavin Hunt will make his long-awaited debut in the Isle of Man TT Races this year after announcing his plans to race with JAR Kawasaki. The Manxman, son of former Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Paul Hunt, will be on board a ZX-10R in all three 1000cc classes, the Dainese Superbike, Royal London 360º Superstock and PokerStars Senior TT Races.

Although much of his early career has been spent in circuit racing, Hunt does have a history on the roads at the North West 200. The 26 year old made his debut at that particular event in 2010, finishing inside the top twenty in all three races he contested before a serious leg injury later in the year set him back.

Hunt returned to Coleraine for the NW200 in each of the following two years but the near-total cancellation of the 2011 programme while a lack of machinery denied him the chance to impress last year.

That shouldn’t be a problem this year with the team focusing their season around the TT and the Isle of Man Government’s TT and Motorsport Manager, Paul Phillips, has welcomed the introduction of another home-based talent.

“Gavin has been one of the Isle of Man’s most promising riders for a few years now. It’s great to see a local rider coming through to make his debut on the Mountain Course and I’m sure he’s going to be one to watch in future years.”
