Reigning champion Michael Meadows will return to defend his Porsche Carrera Cup GB title in 2013 with a brand new team, Samsung Smart Motorsport.
The team behind the operation is InterGTM, an amalgamation of regular Carrera Cup competitors GT Marques and award winning London Agency Interstate.
Meadows is tasked with leading the team and has made it clear that he is focussed on becoming only the second man in the championship’s history to successfully defend the title, the first being Damien Faulkner in 2006.
He said: “Without a doubt I want to win the title again. It’s a new challenge with a new team and I’m proud to be representing a major brand. The aim has to be to win the title more comprehensively than last year.”
Meadows will be joined at the team by former single seater driver Richard Kent who has been out of motorsport for the past two years. Ahead of his first year of Carrera Cup racing he said: “I didn’t expect to come back into something as full-on as this. But this fantastic opportunity came about and every time I get in the car I’m learning. I’m getting a lot of information and support from Michael.”
The Carrera Cup season begins on Easter weekend (30th/31st March) at Brands Hatch in Kent.
