Nathan Freke has expressed his delight after a stunning double victory on his return to the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup at Oulton Park.
Fresh from his impressive display in the British GT Championship at Silverstone, Freke was a last minute addition to the grid after the withdrawal of his Century Motorsport team’s regular driver James Birch.
Despite a nine month absence from the series, Freke put his theplayer.co.uk-supported G55 second on the grid and went on to dominate the races, holding off championship leader Tom Ingram to lead both from lights-to-flag.
“This weekend has been mega,” said Freke. “The team did a fantastic job getting the car ready and I was chosen to drive it at the eleventh hour when they needed a driver to prove that the car and the team are easily the best in the business. It’s fantastic that I’ve been able to give them the reward that they deserved for the lengthy hours of hard work that’s gone into it.
“Once again I’ve proven my abilities as a winning driver with minimal testing both this weekend and in Silverstone recently in British GT, hopefully this can help us attract some interest in a potential long term British GT or touring car seat this season.”
