The SRO Motorsports Group and the RACB are preparing themselves for what they expect to be the biggest and best edition of the Total Spa 24 Hours with more than 70 GT3 cars expected for the 65th anniversary running of the race in July.

The race, which is also the fourth round of this year’s Blancpain Endurance Series, takes place at the famous Ardennes track on July 24-28. As such the regulars from the extremely successful series, which visited Silverstone last weekend, are joined by several of the top GT racing teams from around Europe.

Thus, alongside the full season entries from the likes of Marc VDS Racing, Belgian Audi Team WRT and Vita4One Team Italy come Schubert Motorsport, United Autosport and Manthey Racing. One full season Blancpain Series team – Black Falcon – will be aiming to claim a third 24 Hour race in 2013, with Spa the next target after wins in Dubai and at the Nurburgring last month.

“The first two races of the series showed how much this formula appeals to people,” says Frederic Maeyens, the general manager of the RACB. “Since 2001 and the advent of GT cars in the 24 Hours, this race has not stopped growing in terms of quantity and quality in the field. Year after year, it has become a huge success. As we have done for more than ten years, we reiterate our trust to SRO and to all the partners supporting the Total 24 Hours of Spa.”

The race festivities begin with a parade of the race cars through the historic Spa town centre with the first ever superpole session qualifying for the race on Friday (after last year’s session was rained off) with the race starting on Saturday.

Supporting the main event on track are the Cooper Tires British Formula Three International Series, Formula Renault NEC and the Belgian Racing Car Championship – a race that will include the Aston martin GT4 Challenge and the Dutch GT Championship.

Off track the trend of world class DJ sets that have taken the party into the summer night continues with headline acts for the event’s main stage set to be confirmed in the near future.

Before the Total Spa 24 Hours the Blancpain Endurance Series continues with the third round of the year at Paul Ricard on June 30.
