BTCC Supports Mid-Season Review: The Season In Numbers

2 Mins read

As we sit back and relax in the summer break after an action-packed first five weekends of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship and it’s five support series, thecheckeredflag.co.uk has decided to crunch some numbers about the support package racing we’ve seen so far:

0.013 – Paul Rivett edged out Josh Files by 0.013s in a dead-heat finish in Round 4 of the Renault UK Clio Cup at Donington, the smallest race-winning margin of the season so far.

6 – Half a dozen drivers on the Renault UK Clio Cup grid have tasted the winners champagne, more than any other championship.

9 – Nine drivers competed in Formula Ford GB at Oulton Park and the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Thruxton, the smallest grid sizes of the season on the package.

10 – Harry Woodhead’s ten Ginetta Junior wins so far this season has put him one away from equalling 2011 champion Seb Morris’ record of eleven wins in a season.

11 – The competitive Ginetta GT Supercup has produced eleven different podium finishers so far, more than any other championship.

15 – Dan Cammish’s current run of fifteen consecutive wins in Formula Ford GB is a new modern-era record in the championship.

18 – Tom Ingram dominated Round 13 of the Ginetta GT Supercup at Croft, winning by 18.011s, the biggest race-winning margin of the season so far.

24 – The Renault UK Clio Cup has produced the biggest grids on the support package so far, with a high of 24 cars battling it out at Donington and Oulton Park.

26 – Tom Ingram’s five Ginetta GT Supercup wins so far means the 19-year-old has now won 26 races in Ginetta championships (including G50 class wins).

40 – With five drivers retired and one disqualified, only 40% of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB cars that started Round Ten at Croft were classified at the finish, a season low for the support package.

41 – Josh Files finally took his first Renault UK Clio Cup victory in Round 9 at Croft, his 41st race in the championship.

46 – Carl Breeze’s eight Ginetta GT Supercup podiums so far this season makes it 46 in total for him in 68 races (67%) since the G55 model was introduced in 2011.

97 – A total of 97 different drivers to have competed on the support package so far this season across the five championships (Only James Birch has competed in two different series).

262 – Dan Cammish has led 262 of the 267 laps in Formula Ford GB this season, Harrison Scott leading the other 5.
