TCR Delighted With Snetterton Supercup Double

Carl Breeze and Mark Davies took a win apiece for Total Control Racing during the latest rounds of the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup at Snetterton, increasing the team’s win tally to seven for the season.

Snetterton local Breeze headed into the weekend hoping to close the gap to championship leader Tom Ingram, and the weekend started well, with a clear run to second place in the opening race followed by a dominant lights to flag win in race two.

The reigning champion was to be left frustrated in the final race though. A great start to the race saw him leap into the top three, however the race was to be red flagged after a multiple car incident. At the restart, Breeze couldn’t quite repeat his start, leaving him to run fourth throughout behind Ingram, leaving him still 107 points adrift in the title battle.

For Davies, the weekend marked his return to the top of the podium for the first time since the end of 2012, with his maiden victory since joining TCR. The Huddersfield racer dominated Round 17, leading throughout after the restart to win by four seconds.

The reigning G50 champion added this result to a hard fought fifth place finish in race one, and fourth place in race two.

“It’s been a great weekend for us in the Ginettas,” said team principal Lee Brookes. “We’d have liked to have won all three races but it was fantastic to see Carl and Mark both up there on the top step of the podium. Carl’s always strong around Snetterton, he defended his lead perfectly in race two, and Mark was outstanding in race three. We knew he could do it, it was only a matter of time.”
