Single-seater racer Tom Oliphant will make his GT racing debut this weekend when he joins the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup grid at Rockingham.
Oliphant has campaigned in the Protyre Formula Renault Championship for the past two seasons. After finishing sixteenth overall with Antel Motorsport last year, the 23 year old currently lies tenth in this season’s standings with MGR Motorsport, having taken a best finish of seventh.
Oliphant will become the latest driver to race Century’s theplayer.co.uk-backed car, following in the footsteps of James Birch, team boss Nathan Freke, and Max Coates.
He will also join the team for the Britcar Silverstone 1000km event at the end of September, to get a flavour of both sprint and endurance GT racing as he evaluates his options for the 2014 season.
“I am very excited to team up with Century Motorsport in the G55 class,” said Oliphant. “They have shown great form over this season in both the GT Supercup and British GT4 classes. My focus will be to improve over the weekend and to place as high as possible in the two races.”
Oliphant joining the team comes as Pepe Massot switches from Century Motorsport, with whom he has competed for the past two meetings, to JHR Developments.
