Top sportscar outfit United Autosports are reported to be considering an entry into the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup next season.
Motorsport News report today (September 25) that the Garforth-based outfit are plotting a two-car entry into the championship and are already in discussions with drivers.
The team, who recently announced intentions to join the British Touring Car Championship next season, have entered cars in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship and European Supercar Challenge this season.
“The BTCC package is very attractive and as a series leading to higher GT racing, it would make an awful amount of sense particularly with the Ginetta factory across the road from us,” team manager Richard Dean told MN.
“The touring car and GT Supercup teams will be completely separate with their own dedicated staff. I’d like to make the Supercup squad into a GT feeder team. We are talking with drivers outside of the series, focusing on younger racers. I’d like to have everything agreed by October so we have a G55 car to test through November before the circuits close for the winter.”
