Kristensen And McNish Added To Autosport International Line-Up

2 Mins read

Le Mans legends Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish will celebrate their championship-winning 2013 season at the 2014 Autosport International show in January.

Kristensen and McNish, along with Loic Duval, took victory at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans this year for the ninth and third times respectively, before an incredibly strong run of form led them to their first FIA World Endurance Championship crown.

Kristensen, or ‘Mr Le Mans’, who was recently named by Autosport as the best driver to never have driven in Formula One, boasts an incredible record of nine Le Mans victories, including six consecutive wins between 2000 and 2005. He also has six Sebring 12 Hours victories to his name, along with being a race winner in the British Touring Car Championship.

“I love motorsport and the start of the new season is always an exciting time,” he said. “It’ll be great to be able to share that feeling with everyone at Autosport International 2014 in January.”

McNish has enjoyed a career spanning a quarter of a century, which features racing in Formula One, three American Le Mans Series titles and claims the title of being the most successful British driver in the history of the Sebring 12 Hours, winning four times.

“Autosport International really is a fantastic event, catching up with everyone before racing really begins,” said McNish. “It’s cool to get some time with fans, who can get so close to the stars and the cars, and as a fan of the sport myself, I always make time to see the next generation of drivers on the karting stage and what’s new for the upcoming season.”

Kristensen and McNish join John Surtees, Martin Brundle and Adrian Sutil on the list of confirmed names, with many more names still to be added to the event, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from January 9-12. Accompanying the stars on the stage will be displays from all corners of motorsport, including Formula One, rallying, touring cars and historic motorsport. The 5,000 seat Live Action Arena will also make a return, along with the Performance Car Show in association with Autocar and PistonHeads.com, featuring the best road-going supercars.

“To have drivers of the calibre of Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish at the show, with 12 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between them, is fantastic,” said Autosport International Show Director Ian France. “They’re both favourites among fans of the sport, and I’m sure everyone will enjoy hearing about their latest Le Mans triumph and success in the FIA World Endurance Championship at Autosport International 2014.”
