Lawrence Tomlinson is to return to the Avon Tyres British GT Championship grid after being named as co-driver to Mike Simpson in the Team LNT Ginetta G55 GT3 for the 2014 campaign.

A year acting as Entrepreneur In Residence to the Government kept Ginetta chairman Tomlinson’s time behind the wheel to a minimum in 2013, during which time Simpson shared the team’s British GT entry with Richard Sykes and Rob Smith. Tomlinson and Simpson did share driving duties in July’s British Endurance Championship (BEC) race on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, taking an overall win against a strong grid of GT cars despite starting at the rear of the field.

“I have been busy advising Government on how they can help boost growth and best support entrepreneurs in the UK over the past 12 months,” said Tomlinson, “and whilst I will be continuing to work with Government in 2014, I am looking forward to spending my weekends back in the car to show just what the Ginetta G55 GT3 car is capable of in terms of value for money and performance.”

Despite ending 2012 on a high, when Simpson and Tomlinson took a fourth place finish in penultimate British GT race of the year Team LNT’s 2013 British GT season was plagued with problems, though frequently those delivered to them by poor luck, being caught in other’s accidents and – on one occasion – succumbing to a flying door whilst running in the top five. Elsewhere the G55 GT3 proved its worth with strong showings in the International GT Open as well as the BEC.

“It’s great to be back in British GT for 2014 and to be sitting beside the boss once again,” said Simpson. “Lawrence and I have had some great results together and we are looking for silverware and champagne as we mount a challenge for the title.”

Team LNT are hoping to add a second GT3 car to their team for 2014 British GT season, as well, again, take on selected races in the UK and around the world.

Their next racing commitment is one such overseas event with Tomlinson and Simpson to share the G55 GT3 with Javier Morcillo and Paul White at the Dubai 24 Hours in January.
