Academy Confirm Huyton And Burns For Supercup

1 Mins read

Sean Huyton and Will Burns have been announced as Academy Motorsport’s first two drivers for the 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup.

Academy enjoyed a sensational 2013 campaign, taking outright race wins, a top three G55 championship finish and the G50 driver’s title in the Supercup, along with a one-two in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge driver’s standings and the team’s title.

It was Huyton was dominated the G50 class, taking twelve race wins en-route to his second consecutive Ginetta championship. He also took a podium finish during a brief stint in a G55.

Burns meanwhile finished second overall in the Challenge with seven wins to his name, as well as making his debut in the Supercup with class wins in the G50’s.

Both drivers head into the new campaign hoping to be regular outright podium finishers, following in the footsteps of team boss Matt Nicoll-Jones, who finished third overall in the Supercup last year.

“We are delighted to have both Sean and Will back with Academy Motorsport for 2014, their results last season speak for themselves, and we are looking to build on these in the Michelin Ginetta G4 SuperCup,” said Nicoll-Jones.
