The Action Express Racing team of Joao Barbosa, Sebastien Bourdais and Christian Fittipaldi continued their stranglehold on the fastest times at the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Roar Before the 24 test at Daytona International Speedway.

The trio – sharing the #5 Chevrolet Corvette DP – were fastest during the 90 minute night session that concluded the running on Saturday, the second day of the three days of running that start the season off.

With a best lap time of 1:39.223 the #5 crew were nearly half a second faster than Wayne Taylor Racing team – Wayne himself joining sons Ricky and Jordan and Max Angelelli in the #10 Corvette DP. Extreme Speed Motorsports achieved the best showing thus far for a P2 car – at least in terms of overall position – with the #1 HPD third fastest in the session.

GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing – the #99 another Corvette DP – and Michael Shank Racing completed the top five despite the MSR team calling time on their testing after just five laps, following their fellow Ford EcoBoost powered team Chip Ganassi Racing in concluding their after technical problems.

The DeltaWing team were also as high up the times as they have been, sixth fastest overall.

In Prototype Challenge Starworks Motorsport – fastest in the daylight sessions of Saturday – were fastest again in the night session, their #8 car more than half a second faster than CORE Autosport’s entry in the spec class.

With both Corvette Racing cars remaining in the garage after topping the three day sessions it was the #91 SRT Motorsports Viper that was fastest in GT Le Mans. The car – slated to be driven by Dominik Farnbacher, Marc Goossens and Ryan Briscoe – set a best lap of 1:46.695, a fraction faster than the best effort of the Aston Martin Racing crew with the #56 BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE third fastest in the class.

The Porsche and Audi teams continued their battle at the top of the GT Daytona class times, the best time under the cover of night going to the 911 GT America of Park Place Motorsports with the ever-present Audi of Flying Lizard Motorsports second fastest and a Level 5 Motorsports Ferrari third fastest.

The Roar Before the 24 concludes with a pair of sessions on Sunday before attention turns to the Rolex 24 at itself.
