Tom Sharp will return to the British GT Championship in 2014, partnering Colin White again in the IDL Racing with CWS Ginetta G55 GT3.

Sharp competed in his first full season in the British GT Championship in 2013, firmly establishing himself as a series front-runner, which bodes well for 2014 as the championship prepares for its biggest season in recent years.

The  2012 Ginetta GT Supercup champion proved his talent with a number of strong drives throughout the year, including running as high as third overall in the flagship Silverstone 500 event. Reliability got in the way of some stronger positions, but the car showed its potential when it took Sharp and White to the overall lead at Brands Hatch.

The duo had contemplated a change of machinery over the winter, but hard work from both the team and Ginetta has seen a number of improvements brought to the car, resulting in a positive test in early February.

“It’s great to be back,” said Sharp. “The Avon Tyres British GT Championship is where I want to be, and without a doubt it will be the most competitive season to date. For sure 2012 was a difficult year for us, but a lot of lessons have been learnt and we are all better off for the experience.

“The car has come a long way over the winter and I have every confidence it will be competitive and we can run at the front of the field this season. The guys at Ginetta have done an impressive job and I can’t wait to start testing at the end of the month.”
