Freke: “We’ve Never Been So Well Prepared”

1 Mins read

Century Motorsport boss Nathan Freke is confident of a strong start to the season this weekend in the opening rounds of the 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup at Brands Hatch after a successful pre-season with drivers Tom Oliphant and Jamie Orton.

The Warwickshire-based outfit were one of the first teams to confirm their driver line-up for 2014, and since that announcement back in October, they’ve been busy completing an extensive winter testing programme in their new GT4 spec Ginetta G55’s.

Freke, a former race-winner in the category himself, feels the team are in a position to challenge at the front from the opening race this weekend.

“Tom and Jamie have been really fast throughout all of our testing so far this year, making some fantastic improvements,” he said.

“We’ve all learned so much from doing so much running and I’m confident that we’ve never been so well prepared. Roll on Brands Hatch!”

While Orton, a racewinner on the final weekend of 2013 at Brands, heads into the opening weekend targeting solid top ten finishes, single-seater graduate Oliphant is targeting the championship lead coming out of the meeting.

“Testing has gone really well, the whole team has worked really hard to get the car to a place where I feel comfortable to push to the limit,” commented Oliphant.

“I am very confident we can compete at the front in Brands Hatch this weekend. Our aim has to be to come out of the weekend leading the championship and with the team behind me, I feel this is a realistic target.”
