Frenchman Baron hopes for Indy Lights success.

Alex Baron will hope to continue his Mazda Road to Indy success as he takes to the streets of St Petersburg this weekend in the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Series.

Moving up from USF2000, Belardi Auto Racing obviously spotted talent in the youngster in the fact that he has completely skipped the almost customary Star Mazda stage in the ladder.

“In a few days I’ll make my Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires debut, and it will be a great moment for me,” stated Baron. “Belardi Auto Racing has been working very hard to be ready for St. Pete, and we are all very eager to see where our performance is after this long winter testing period. I am fortunate to have Gabby Chaves as my teammate, and my goal for the first race is to be very close to him and to score big points. I want to fight for the championship, and I’m very excited about the opportunity that has been given to me by Brian Belardi and John Brunner. I will do everything to make them proud of their decision, and put my red Belardi car out front.”

Baron has much to be hopeful for, in the Chris Griffis Memorial Test he was topping the charts in only his first drive in a very powerful Indy Lights car and during Winterfest he routinely ran in the top four.

The first round of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires series takes place on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida this Sunday March 30th.
