Gabby Chaves joins Belardi for Indy Lights

1 Mins read

Gabby Chaves has been announced for Belardi Auto Racing in the 2014 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season following a second position in last year’s championship.

That result, for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, saw him take one win, five second places and four third places in a season he hopes will be bettered this year.

“I am very happy and honored to be part of Belardi Auto Racing,” stated Chaves. “They have the motivation and desire to win, which is the most important thing, and they have the crew and the cars to get the job done. I can’t thank Brian Belardi and the whole team enough for this great opportunity they are giving me and the trust they have placed in me, as well as my sponsors Marca Colombia and Coldeportes for their continued support. I look forward to a great season, winning many races, and the Indy Lights championship this year.”

This drive comes on the back of what will be two drives (after Sebring) so far in the DeltaWing in the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

That comes on the back of numerous single seater titles ranging from Colombian Formula Renault to Skip Barber Regional Championships, Formula BMW and finally Star Mazda before ending up in Indy Lights last year.

Chaves will join recently signed rookie Alex Baron at the squad, with the hope that the pace he showed at post-season testing can be carried on into 2014 when the series gets under way at St Petersburg at the end of this month.
