Risi Mixes It Up With Factories at Long Beach

1 Mins read

Risi Competizione will start seventh in GTLM for the 100-minute Tequila Patron Sportscar Showcase, after drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Dane Cameron mixed it up with the TUDOR Championship’s factory entries.

Former F1 ace Fisichella qualified the No.62 Ferrari 458 Italia around the streets of Long Beach, with the Italian setting a lap time of 1:19.037 on his fourth of seven laps, with the team saying that the car still isn’t set up to neither Fisichella’s or Cameron’s liking.

“There is so little time in the schedule for practice this weekend and, as the team explained to me before we started, the early morning session and the late afternoon session showed themselves to be very different as far as the track and the feel of the car is concerned,” said Fisichella.

“Just before qualifying we made a little change to the set-up of the car but it didn’t work for us and we still had too much oversteer.  The car was not predictable enough to push it harder.”

GTLM pole was set by Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen, with the Dane setting a lap time of  1:17.939, a new record at Long Beach.
