Sharp Hoping For Strong Start To British GT Season

1 Mins read

Tom Sharp will be hoping to start his British GT Championship with a brace of top ten results at this weekend’s season opener at Oulton Park.

Sharp returns to the British GT Championship with the IDL Racing with CWS team for the second time and head in to the first round of the season full of confidence, having secured a breakthrough top ten result in the season finale at Donington Park.

Over the winter the team have worked furiously to improve the Ginetta G55 GT3, culminating in a string of strong testing performances and an impressive showing at the official championship launch day at Donington Park.

“I think it’s fair to say Oulton Park didn’t exactly go to plan last season, so I’m looking forward to bouncing back this weekend with two top ten finishes at a circuit I really enjoy driving at,” said Sharp, who will once again share the G55 with Colin White. “I’ve been quite impressed with the car through pre-season testing in terms of performance and reliability, and I think that was reflected in the times from the Donington launch. We definitely have the best chance ever to net some strong finishes. 2014 is going to be a spectacular year in the British GT Championship, especially when you look at all the manufacturers involved, and even the personalities entered, and I can’t wait to get started.”

The British GT Championship gets underway this Easter weekend, with over 35 cars representing eleven different marques, including McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin and Bentley, expected to take to the Oulton Park circuit.
