Strata21 Pair Swap Nissan for Aston Martin for Rockingham Round

Paul White and Tom Onslow-Cole will switch from Nissan to Aston Martin for this weekend’s second round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Rockingham.

The pair made their series debut last month in a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 but will return to the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with which the pair are more familiar for the two hour race that awaits them at the Northamptonshire track. The Strata21 Aston was in use at the Nurburgring for the first part of the season – making it unavailable for the pair’s British GT outings however, rapid work by Aston Martin Racing has freed the car up for use this weekend.

For both White and Onslow-Cole a return to the Aston Martin is a welcome change, the pair having shared a Vantage GT3 for a limited schedule in the British Endurance Championship last season.

Onslow-Cole reflected; “It’s the car that got me addicted to GT racing so I’m excited to be back out in it again this weekend.”

“It was great news to hear that the Strata21 Vantage GT3 is ready for Tom and I to use,” said White. “We had a great time racing the Nissan at Oulton Park and we plan to run the car again at some point this year – our relationship with JRM and JMH Automotive is still ongoing.”

“However, it would be silly not to use our Aston Martin in the British GT Championship.  It’s a championship-winning car and we plan to make a full assault on the 2014 title.”

White and Onslow-Cole’s charge will make it seven Vantage GT3 on the grid for the Bank Holiday Monday race. Their Milltek Sport and Casio Edifice sponsrored #21 will join cars from MP Motorsport, Horsepower Racing, PGF-Kinfaun AMR, Oman Racing Team and 2013 champions Beechdean AMR.

Oman Racing Team drivers Ahmad Al Harthy and Michael Caine made sure of a winning start for the Aston Martin group at the season opener at Oulton Park, the Beechdean AMR pairing of Jonny Adam and drivers’ champion Andrew Howard recording a pair of podium finishes to start the year.

www.theCheckeredFlag.co.uk will have full coverage of the Rockingham British GT weekend with reports from every session a live blog coverage of the race itself.
