Laurens Vanthoor claimed pole position for Belgian Audi Club Team WRT for the qualifying race at the latest round of the Blancpain Sprint Series at the Slovakia Ring.
Vanthoor, who shares his Audi R8 with Cesar Ramos, was 0.142 seconds quicker than Grasser Racing Lamborghini driver Jeroen Bleekemolen, who survived an early off in Q3 to take second place in the car he shares with Hari Proczyk.
Markus Winkelhock, who races a Phoenix Audi alongside Niki Mayr-Melnhof, beat WRT driver Rene Rast to third place.
Fifth was the HTP Motorsport Mercedes of Maximilian Gotz, who has been joined for his weekend by Nico Verdonck after Maximilian Buhk was suspended for an incident in the ADAC GT Masters event at the same circuit two weeks ago.
David Fumanelli took sixth in the ROAL Motorsport BMW he shares with Stefano Colombo, while HTP-run series newcomers Lucas Wolf and Luca Stolz will line up seventh on the grid.
Tomas Enge took eighth in the Reiter Lamborghini he drives alongside Stefano Rosina ahead of the final HTP Mercedes of Sergei Afanasiev and Stef Dusseldorp, with Alex Zanardi completing the Q3 runners.
