Dawson Keen For Another Supercup Outing

1 Mins read

Giles Dawson is eager to make another appearance in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup before the end of the season after making his return to the series at Rockingham last weekend.

Dawson, who’s last outing in the Supercup had come in a G50 at Silverstone in 2012, joined the grid with Richardson Racing, the team making their first Supercup appearance this season.

After his first taste of a Ginetta G55 came in Friday testing, Dawson converted thirteenth in qualifying into a pair of eleventh place finishes in the car used by Rory Bryant and SV Racing at Knockhill.

With those races whetting his appetite, Dawson is hoping to get back on track for one of the remaining two meetings of the season at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

“I’ve not raced for a few years so the weekend was all about going out and having a bit of fun,” he said. “I think its fair to say that I did struggle a bit and the rustiness showed when I had a spin in race two, but that is just down to the fact that I’ve not been in a car for so long.

“Despite that, I think I did okay when you consider how late everything came together and I’m hoping that I can be back out again before the end of the season to have another crack at it. With a bit more seat time to help me get up to speed, I’d like to think I could push forwards towards the midfield.”
