Silverstone Mission Accomplished For Robertson

1 Mins read

Charlie Robertson successfully extended his Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup championship lead with a pair of podium finishes in the penultimate meeting of the season at Silverstone.

The HHC Motorsport racer headed into the weekend with the sole aim of increasing his 26 point lead over chief adversary Carl Breeze over the course of the two races.

Robertson did exactly that with a pair of third place finishes, making it seventeen in his maiden Supercup season so far, results made sweeter by the fact he overtook Breeze in both races.

“We came into the weekend looking to finish ahead of Carl [Breeze] twice to extend the championship lead and that’s exactly what we did,” said Robertson.

“I knew it was crucial to score as many points as I could this weekend, and the opportunities presented themselves [to pass Carl] in both races and I was able to take them.”

Robertson now heads to Brands Hatch in ten days time with a 34 point advantage at the head of the standings, and while he wants to add to his seven wins so far this season in the final triple-header, he won’t take any risks to do so.

“The plan is to go there and win as always,” he added. “We’re not going to do anything stupid though, I need to just keep it on the track and score as many points as I can without taking too many risks.”
