Stephane Ortelli beat WRT Audi team-mate Laurens Vanthoor to pole position in the qualifying session for the Baku World Challenge, the final round of the Blancpain Sprint Series season.

In the #9 R8 that he shares with fellow Monegasque driver Stephane Richelmi, Ortelli out-paced his fellow reigning champion Vanthoor (co-driven by Cesar Ramos) by 0.038 seconds.

Jeroen Bleekemolen was third quickest in his Grasser Lamborghini shared by Hari Proczyk, just ahead of the Boutsen Ginion McLaren in the hands of Frederic Vervisch, and co-driven by Chris van der Drift.

Andy Soucek put his and Jonny Adam‘s Beechdean Aston Martin in P5 ahead of Domink Baumann, who is joined in his Schubert BMW this weekend by Jens Klingmann.

Points leader Maximilian Gotz was forced to settle for seventh in his and Maximilian Buhk‘s HTP Motorsport Mercedes ahead of the Prosperia Abt Racing Audi of ADAC GT Masters champion Kelvin van der Linde and co-driver Christopher Mies.

Completing the top ten were the Schutz Motorsport Porsche of Marco Holzer and Martin Ragginger, and twins Rodrigo and Ricardo Sperafico, who have taken over one of the BMW Team Brazil cars for this event.
