BRDC Celebrate British Success At 2014 Awards

World champions Lewis Hamilton, Anthony Davidson and Jolyon Palmer were amongst the winners at the annual British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) awards lunch today (8th December) at London’s Grand Connaught Rooms.

Formula One world champion Hamilton received two BRDC Gold Stars, the premier award presented, for posting the strongest performance of the year in international motor racing and winning the F1 title, as well as two other trophies.

World Endurance champion Davidson was awarded three trophies, including a special BRDC Gold Star for winning his first world title, while BTCC champion Colin Turkington received the highest national racing accolade, the BRDC Silver Star.

Daniel Ricciardo picked up the Bruce McLaren Trophy in recognition of his race-winning F1 campaign, GP2 champion Palmer received the Fairfield Trophy, while Jack Harvey secured the Earl Howe Trophy for his performances stateside.

Closer to home, Ginetta GT4 Supercup champion Charlie Robertson got the Henry Surtees Trophy for outstanding performance by a BRDC Rising Star and George Russell secured the Chris Bristow Trophy in recognition of his McLaren Autosport BRDC Award success.

The full list of 2014 BRDC Award winners are:

BRDC GOLD STARS – Lewis Hamilton
First presented in 1929. The BRDC Gold Star is the Club’s premier annual award. It recognises the strongest performance of the year by a Member in international motor sport. Points are awarded on a set formula.

BRDC SPECIAL GOLD STAR – Anthony Davidson
First presented in 1929. The BRDC Gold Star is the Club’s premier annual award. It recognises the strongest performance of the year by a Member in international motor sport. Points are awarded on a set formula.

BRDC SILVER STAR – Colin Turkington
Awarded annually, the BRDC Silver Star is the domestic equivalent of the BRDC Gold Star.

THE BRUCE McLAREN TROPHY – Daniel Ricciardo
Awarded to the Commonwealth driver who has established the most meritorious performances in international motor racing.

THE CHRIS BRISTOW TROPHY – George Russell
Awarded to the winner of the BRDC McLaren AUTOSPORT Young Driver of the Year Award.

THE COLIN CHAPMAN TROPHY – Alexander Sims
Special Award presented to an individual who has shown great team spirit, be it a driver, team owner, engineer or similar.

THE EARL HOWE TROPHY – Jack Harvey
Awarded to the highest placed British driver in the Indy 500 race, or to the British driver who has established the most meritorious performance of the year in North America. T

HE FAIRFIELD TROPHY – Jolyon Palmer
Awarded for an outstanding performance by a BRDC Member.

THE JOHN COOPER TROPHY – Alex Lynn
Awarded to a competitor within the GP3 series who has shown potential to become a future World Champion.

THE GRAHAM HILL TROPHY – Lewis Hamilton Awarded to the British driver for the most meritorious performance in single-seater racing.

THE INNES IRELAND TROPHY – Daniel Ricciardo
Awarded to the driver who best displayed the qualities of courage and sportsmanship epitomized by the late Innes Ireland.

THE JOHN COBB TROPHY – Steven Kane, Guy Smith, Andy Meyrick
Awarded to a British driver, driving a British car, who has achieved success or successes of outstanding character.

THE JOHNNY WAKEFIELD TROPHY – Lewis Hamilton
Awarded to the driver setting the fastest race lap of the season on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.

THE NIGEL MOORES TROPHY – Jota Sport
Awarded to the private entrant who has established the most meritorious performance(s) in international motor racing. T

HE RICHARD SEAMAN TROPHY – Lewis Hamilton
Awarded to the winner of the Gold Star points scoring system.

THE SILVERSTONE LE MANS CHALLENGE – Anthony Davidson, Nicolas Lapierre, Sebastien Buemi
Awarded to the driver(s) who achieved the highest combined finishing record in combined results of the Silverstone LMS race and the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.

THE SIR JACKIE STEWART AWARD – Paddy Lowe
Awarded to a motor sport engineer who has shown brilliance during the course of the season.

THE WOOLF BARNATO TROPHY – Harry Tincknell, Oliver Turvey, Simon Dolan
Awarded to the highest-placed finishing British and/or Commonwealth Driver(s), in a British car, in the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.

THE ACO PLATE – Anthony Davidson
Presented on behalf of our friends at the ACO, the award is presented to the highest-placed British driver finishing the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.

THE HENRY SURTEES TROPHY – Charlie Robertson
Awarded annually for the most outstanding performance by a BRDC Rising Star.
