Hickin Set For MSA Formula With Scorpio

1 Mins read

2014 Protyre Formula Renault vice-champion Piers Hickin is set to compete in the new MSA Formula series next year with Scorpio Motorsport.

Hickin, who made his car-racing debut in the 2012 Ginetta Junior Winter Series, would be competing  full-time on the BTCC package for the first time in his third season of single-seater racing.

After initially entering Formula Renault with Core Motorsport, a move to Scorpio at the end of the 2013 campaign started a partnership that produced twelve podium finishes in fifteen races this season.

Two of those were race victories, the second of which came in the final race of the season at Silverstone in support of the BTCC, and with that experience under his belt Hickin is full of confidence for a potential MSA Formula campaign.

“It’ll be great to be part of such a high-profile championship,” said Hickin, who was part of the McLaren Performance Academy in 2014. “And there’s no reason why we can’t go into it with the aim of winning.”

Hickin was speaking to Get Surrey in an interview in which he expressed aspirations to compete in IndyCar in the future. Read the full chat here.
