Lotus returns to British GT with Evora GT4

1 Mins read

UltraTek Racing will be joining the ranks of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship with a pair of Lotus Evora GT4s featuring BTCC winners and GT aces.

Stratton Motorsport have built the two cars in their Norfolk workshops – the stomping ground of Lotus – and will be racing under the UltraTek Racing all the while hoping to expand on their wealth of experience in the GT ranks.

Racing the cars will be BTCC Independents Champion James Nash, who is also providing support to UltraTek under his James Nash Racing banner,  Jamie Wall – who drove in three rounds for MB Racing in 2014 – and former Aston Martin Challenge drivers Richard Taffinder & Tim Eakin.

The team is named after – and sponsored by – the brand of aluminium number plates distributed by Richard & Tim’s company Hills Numberplates.

Taffinder said: “This exciting collaboration has opened the door for Tim and myself, real motorsport enthusiasts from Hills Numberplates to take a seat alongside professional drivers for the first time.”

They will be supported by Nash, who has started to carve a very fruitful niche for himself in providing driver tuition and introducing potential racers to the world of GT racing.

He said: “My aim is to continue to work with Richard and Tim to develop them into competitive GT drivers that are able to win a championship. I have mentored them both for the past 4 years and want to show that with the right tuition, an amateur driver can develop into a championship winner.”

The British GT Championship begins on April 4th at Oulton Park.
