Global Rallycross invitational confirmed for X Games Austin 2015

1 Mins read

Following the announcement of the 2015 season schedule earlier this week, the Red Bull Global Rallycross has confirmed that it will also be joining the X Games Austin 2015 line up at Circuit of the Americas.

A traditional fixture on the X Games roster since 2004, the Rallycross races have seen rally legends such as Colin McRae, Sebastien Loeb and Marcus Gronholm compete against the Global Rallycross season regulars.

For 2015 the visit will not feature as a championship scoring round but will use the more traditional X Games format of invitations.

Liam Doran faced an epic showdown with Marcus Gronholm at X Games 17 in 2011 with the British Bomb fending off the likes of Tanner Foust, Ken Block and Travis Pastrana in the qualifying round. Doran would come out on top of the head-to-head with Gronholm to take the Gold medal.

X Games Austin 2015 qualifying and heat races will take place on Friday, June 5, and final heat races and the main event will conclude on Saturday, June 6.
