Gulf Racing add James Winslow to ELMS roster

1 Mins read

Experienced sportscar driver James Winslow will return to European competition this year with Gulf Racing in the European Le Mans Series.

Winslow will share the team’s Porsche 911 RSR GTE with Adam Carroll and team owner Mike Wainwright.

Having initially plied his trade in single seaters, Winslow progressed to sportscar racing with notable success, including a fastest LMP2 lap at the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. Last year he finished 2nd in class in the Australian GT Championship, in addition to a half-season campaign in the Asian Le Mans Series with Eurasia Motorsport.

This season will once again be a busy one for the versatile Briton, who kicks of his 2015 GT programme with Jamec-Pem Racing at this weekend’s Bathurst 12 Hour (February 8). After Bathurst, Winslow will be traveling to Adelaide to begin his Australian GT Championship campaign with Porsche outfit AMAC Motorsport.

“2015 will be another huge season for me,” Winslow said. “The Gulf Racing team are an impressive group of individuals and I’m very pleased to be joining them. I have worked with a couple of the team members before and they are very talented guys and I know Mike, Adam and I will be a serious force on track.”

Commenting on his upcoming GT drives, Winslow added: “I’m really looking forward to the Bathurst 12 Hour this weekend with Audi-Australia and co-driving with Steve McLaughlin and Dean Koutsoumidis in the #75 Jamec Pem Racing Audi R8 Ultra.”

“Then it’s straight to the Clipsal 500, Adelaide and the first round of the 2015 Australian GT Series, which starts a couple of weeks later. I’ll be driving with AMAC Motorsport, they have a very quick Porsche GT3-R for Andrew Macpherson and I to run at the front. What a great season of racing, I’m feeling very blessed.”

With race commitments in Australasia, Europe and Asia, Winslow will be one of the busiest sportscar drivers in 2015. Aside from balancing his full-time ELMS and Australian GT drives, Winslow is also set to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13-14) and in selected FIA World Endurance Championship events in LMP2.
