Jackson Joins Century Motorsport For Supercup Debut

1 Mins read

Former Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship racer Ollie Jackson has been confirmed at Century Motorsport for his 2015 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup campaign.

It was announced late last month that Jackson, who has a torrid time in a Welch Motorsport Proton in the BTCC last season, will make the switch back to one-make sportscar racing this season, having previously competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

Jackson got to know some of the Century team earlier this year when he finished second in class in the 24 Hours of Dubai in a Speedworks Motorsport Ginetta G50, a car engineered by Century team principal Nathan Freke and co-driven by Jackson’s new Supercup team-mate Tom Oliphant.

“I’m delighted to be competing as part of the Century Motorsport team. The team has a great reputation, in fact virtually everyone I’ve spoken to recommend them to me, and I’m sure I can be competitive straight out of the blocks with them,” said Jackson.

“Having driven the Speedworks G50 several weeks ago at Dubai, shared with Tom and engineered by Nathan, I’m also confident that it’ll be a great atmosphere in the team and that I’ll have one of the best-prepared cars in the paddock.

“I’ve had a great response on announcing my move to the Supercup this year. After such a disappointing year in 2014, I’m looking forward to working with a professional outfit like Century and indulging in some proper racing in equal machinery!”

Century Motorsport finished fifth in the standings with Oliphant last season, having taken ten podium finishes, and have already confirmed Oliphant and Osamu Kawashima for the new campaign.

With Jackson’s signing, the team will be running a three-car Supercup entry for the first time since 2012 and Freke is delighted with his line-up.

“Ollie is a great guy and clearly very quick behind the wheel of a Ginetta,” he said. “He will be the perfect teammate to push Tom and help Osamu during what is shaping up to be a very competitive season.

“With three cars in our Supercup team once again, I’m really pleased to see Century returning to the series with such a strong lineup to challenge for the title.”
