Solberg makes it three-in-a-row in Sweden

1 Mins read

Petter and Pernilla Solberg won their third consecutive Rally Sweden Historic last Saturday in their Ford MK2 Escort making it a perfect valentines weekend for the married couple.

The victory comes ten years after the 2003 world champion won Rally Sweden for the Subaru World Rally Team.

The Norwegian crew won the event by three minutes after 128 km of competitive stages and won every stage along the way. Solberg’s pace was so quick that he was setting faster times than some R5 competitors in the main WRC rally.

“Our Ford Escort is lovely and sounds beautiful, but it would been nice to be winning in a World Rally Car again!” – Petter Solberg

“This has been fantastic.” said Solberg at the finish line, “I did this event for the first time in 2013 and really enjoyed it, but it’s just got better and better every time. This year we had done some more work on the car and it was just amazing. I’m a rally driver again and it was fantastic. I loved it.

“Driving at home in Norway, in front of the big crowds was unbelievable for me yesterday and then it was the same for Pernilla when we were competing here in Sweden today.”
