Academy In Aston Martin Tie-Up For British GT Return

1 Mins read

Academy Motorsport will once again compete in the GT4 class of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this season, a new tie-up with Aston Martin seeing them run a pair of Vantage GT4’s.

The team have confirmed Will Moore and Dennis Strandberg will share one Vantage, Chris Webster and James Harrison the other, as they aim to bounce back from a torrid 2014 campaign in Ginetta G55 GT4’s.

Moore, Webster and Strandberg step up from the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, the latter having been a title contender last year finishing third overall, while Harrison won the Ginetta Junior title back in 2006.

The team are preparing for their tenth anniversary this year, and are hoping to also compete in the Aston Martin Festival of Le Mans, the new GT4 Nova Euro Series and end-of-season endurance events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

“We’ve followed the progression of the Vantage GT4 closely and feel it offers the ideal platform as we enter our second decade of top level competition,” said team boss Matt Nicoll-Jones.

“The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 offers a superb multi-discipline race car with unparalleled support from AMR. It really is a strong all-round car, capable of both sprint and endurance competition. It’s the perfect tool for the job.”
