Century Motorsport return to GT4 category in British GT

1 Mins read

Century Motorsport have confirmed that they will be returning to the Avon Tyres British GT Championship to defend their teams’ title in the GT4 category.

Racing a Ginetta G55 GT4, Century Motorsport will be running Norwegian Aleksander Schjerpen – who made occasional appearances last year – as well as James Birch who, in 2013, ran towards the front of the GT4 SuperCup.

With both drivers semi-familiar with Ginetta machinery, the team will be confident that their front running in the GT4 category will continue into 2015.

Schjerpen said: “First of all I am very happy and excited to be back with Century Motorsport for another year in British GT.

“Looking towards 2015, I am very positive. I have used the winter well preparing myself for the new season. We have a good amount of experience from last year that will help us this season. Last year included a lot of new experiences for me, a new team, new car and especially new tracks. This year it will all be more familiar.

“I think James and I will be a good match this year, we seem to have the same approach to the season. I think we will have a good chance of being at the top of the GT4 field in 2015.”

There were similar sentiments shared by Birch, who will be hoping he can carry on his good G55 form: “I am very happy to be joining Century Motorsport alongside Aleksander for an assault on the British GT4 championship. It’s a brilliant opportunity for me to race with the 2014 Teams’ Championship winners, with a competitive driver and car setup. With this strong foundation I cannot wait to get my teeth stuck at Oulton Park and put a marker down as title contenders.

“It’s a pleasure to be welcomed back and join forces with Nathan, and the rest of the fantastic Century family again. This is a team that Aleksander and I have both worked successfully with before, so hopefully we will hit the ground running at the Media Day.”
