Hale Back On Track With SV Supercup Deal

1 Mins read

Mitchell Hale will make a long-awaited return to racing this year in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup with SV Racing.

Hale last raced back in 2010, his first and currently only season of car-racing coming in the Formula Renault BARC Championship.

It proved to be a superb campaign for Hale, who led the championship for long periods with Fortec Motorsport. He took three race wins and three other podium finishes, but a heart-breaking season finale saw him lose out on the title by eight points to Alice Powell.

Continued budget restraints since then has forced Hale onto the sidelines for the last four seasons, meaning he’s naturally hugely excited to be returning this season and making his GT racing bow.

“I haven’t had much experience since my Formula Renault season, but the results of the three 20-minute test sessions I had in the Ginetta G55 GT4 at Donington Park recently were very positive,” said Hale.

“I really clicked with the car, so I’m quite confident I won’t be too far off the pace. Once the first round is out of the way, I’ll be able to gauge where I stand, but having a team like SV Racing behind me is a big shot in the arm.”

Hale is SV Racing’s first signing for the 2015 Supercup, the team embarking on their second season in the championship after finishing a superb second overall last year with David Pittard, who himself is eyeing a return to the championship this year.

“I’m delighted that Mitchell has joined SV Racing,” added team boss Danny Buxton. “I’ve known him for many years and his talent and the raw speed he possesses is unquestionable.

“He has been out of the saddle for a long time, but I’m sure that with a few days of testing under his belt his talent will come shining through. I think he should be on for a very strong second half of the year.”
