Caterham Motorsport Season Starts at Snetterton

1 Mins read

Last weekend, the 2015 Caterham Motorsport Season started with the first rounds of the Superlight R300-S, Roadsport, Tracksport and Supersport championships taking place at Snetterton.

The championship ‘ladder’ starts at the Caterham Academy level, aimed at those with no previous racing experience, and will have rounds at: Aintree (April 25); Blyton Park (May 17); Rockingham (June 13); Castle Combe (July 18/19); Brands Hatch Indy (August 22/23); Oulton Park (September 19); and Silverstone International (October 17/18).

Next for races are the Roadsport, Tracksport and Supersport categories, which will race at: Snetterton (last weekend, April 18/19); Donington Park (May 9/10); Zandvoort (June 20/21); Castle Combe (July 18/19); Brands Hatch Indy (August 22/23); Oulton Park (September 19); and finally Silverstone International (October 17/18).

Finally, at the top of Caterham’s national series ladder, is the flagship Superlight R300-S championship. This also started last weekend at Snetterton, and will have its following rounds held at: Donington Park (May 9/10); Silverstone GP (May 30/31); Zandvoort (June 20/21); Brands Hatch GP (August 1/2); Oulton Park (September 19); and Silverstone International (October 17/18).

Whilst the R300-S series shares many event weekends with the lower categories, it will, at Silverstone GP and Brands Hatch GP, be a supporting series for Britain’s premier GT series, the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. All series will share the final two rounds, meaning that the Oulton Park and Silverstone International weekends will be packed with five different series racing.

“I love this point of the year because you just don’t know what the season has in store.” says Caterham Motorsport director, Simon Lambert. “One thing is for sure though, we’ve got another packed year of racing ahead of use and, with the Caterham Seven legendary for producing close and competitive racing, it’s going to be very exciting.”

The next day of Caterham racing will be this coming Saturday, where the Academy championship will race the Aintree sprint circuit.
