Emil Bergkvist: “It’s been a good morning but I still have to push”

1 Mins read

Emil Bergkvist holds an 8.5 second lead in the FIA European Junior Rally as he heads into the second half of day of the Circuit of Ireland Rally.

The Swedish driver took over the lead from Jon Armstrong after a mechanical issue forced the Northern Irishman out of his home event.

Bergkvist holds a slender 8.5 second lead over ADAC Opel Rallye Junior team-mate Marijan Griebel going into the afternoon.

“The morning went well for us but we still need to push,” said Bergkvist, speaking to The Checkered Flag. “The guys behind are driving really fast so it will be a tough afternoon.”

The Swede is currently joint leader of the ERC Junior championship on 39 points.
