Greaves Motorsport reflect on Silverstone victory

1 Mins read

Greaves Motorsport Secured by Kairos Technologies won the thrilling 2015 4 Hours of Silverstone race by a short margin, putting the team in a strong position after the opening round of the 2015 European Le Mans Series.

Starting from Pole Position, thanks to Jon Lancaster‘s fantastic qualifying lap,  Gary Hirsch drove the first two stints in the #41 Gibson 015S, and by the time he handed the car over to Bjorn Wirdheim, the car had a comfortable 20 second lead. Unfortunately, this lead disappeared due to a Safety Car and a faulty shock absorber.

For the final shift, Jon Lancaster took to the car and passed two rivals before taking the win, by a small margin of just 0.307 seconds.

“That was one of the most exciting races I have ever seen, a flat out sprint for four hours, our drivers did all that was asked of them and more” says Tim Greaves, Team Principal.

“Gary gave us the best possible start and set the foundations for success, Bjorn coped with difficult handling and the untimely intervention of the Safety Car but we were still in contention at that point. Jon’s stint was extraordinary by any standards both in pace and racecraft.”

The next race for Greaves Motorsport in ELMS will be the 4 Hours of Imola on May 16/17.
