Motorsport Vision (MSV) has announced the launch of a new timing and tracking app for spectators at Brands Hatch.
Brands Hatch LIVE! Extra is an innovative new app that is available to Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users both at the Kent circuit and at home. An Android version of the app is already under development.
It was tested at the opening round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship last week, receiving favourable reviews from the fans.
Users are able to track the cars’ and bikes’ progress using the app’s high-quality display. Information on the top twenty competitors, live timing, race control messages and circuit commentary are also part of the package, as well as a special feature that enables spectators to see who is gaining or losing time on-track.
“From my experience both watching races from the trackside and following GP2 races from the time monitors in the F1 garages, it became clear to me that it must be possible to use the latest technology to hugely enhance the spectator experience at our MSV circuits,” said MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer.
Grandstand spectators at Brands Hatch now also have access to free WiFi, while the app’s coverage is set to be made circuit-wide in the next few months.
Similar apps for Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Oulton Park are also in the works.
“Our MSV web development team have done a fantastic job converting my vision to a reality by creating our new app, which will not only provide all timing information on mobile devices, but also provide background facts on every competitor at the touch of their tracking marker, and even show who is closing on competitors ahead – and therefore who are the ones to watch,” added Palmer. “Our revolutionary new MSV app will absolutely transform the trackside spectating experience.”
The Brands Hatch LIVE! Extra app will be available for all the Kent circuit’s major events this year, including this weekend’s visit of the British Truck Racing Championship and the MCE British Superbike Championship which arrives on April 17-19.
