Caine Demoted To Back Of Supercup Grid

1 Mins read

Michael Caine will start the opening Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup race of the weekend from the back of the grid after being penalised post qualifying.

The former British GT champion had qualified a seasons best second on the grid in the twenty minute session, 0.371s slower than pole-sitter Carl Breeze.

After the session though, Caine’s JHR Developments Ginetta G55 GT4 failed a ride height check, resulting in an exclusion from the session that will leave him fifteenth on the grid for race one.

Caine’s penalty means championship leader Jamie Orton will now start on the front row of the grid, with Will Burns completing a HHC Motorsport one-two-three ahead of Tom Oliphant.

The amended grid for race one can be found here.
