Hale Targets Top Five Breakthrough At Thruxton

1 Mins read

Mitchell Hale is hoping to post his first top five finishes of the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup season this weekend at Thruxton.

The SV Racing ace has had a tough introduction to Supercup life so far, particularly last time out at Donington Park when an electrical issue led to a start-line incident in race one, which was followed by two finishes outside the top ten.

The 21 year old has shown glimpses of his potential pace though, including a best finish of seventh within three top tens at the Brands Hatch season opener and a top five qualifying position at Donington – results he wants to build on at Thruxton this weekend.

“I feel very comfortable in the car now and I’m looking forward to getting back in and setting a good qualifying time on Saturday morning,” said Hale.

“I tested during the championship’s official test day at Thruxton last month, where I learnt a great deal.

“I am aiming for a hat-trick of top five finishes this weekend and, with the progress we have been making in terms of performance in the car, it should definitely be achievable.”

Hale’s last visit to the high-speed Hampshire circuit came back in 2010, when a heart-breaking final weekend in the Formula Renault BARC Championship saw him miss out on the title to Alice Powell having led the standings into the meeting.

SV Racing have confirmed they will be running just one Ginetta G55 this weekend, meaning former British GT champion Bradley Ellis will not be returning to the grid after a Donington debut blighted by mechanical problems.
